I agree that the Eye is probably a good fit! The Fears tend to be things that leave a deep impact, and the Lonely evokes a sense of complete isolation. It sounds like the fear of exposure sunk its fangs in far deeper. Gerard's a devotee of the Eye, so Nightshade would feel like a kindred spirit probably.
